HEAD COACH - DON OLIVER Developing youth through sports has always been an important aspect of Don’s life and is why he founded Marin Youth Track Club. Don Oliver competed in every sprint, hurdle, field and relay event as a young athlete. He competed in both indoor and outdoor track and field events and played rugby from elementary school through University. He feels he received exceptional coaching and much of it was inspirational. His philosophy is "Always give more than you got." In 2004, Barry Spitz approached Don Oliver to assist coaching Track and Field at Marin Academy. Don became head Track and Field coach the following year. He is currently the assistant track and field coach at both Branson High School and College of Marin. Under his direction both boys and girls have broken school and meet records yearly. Don is a USATF level 2 Youth coach specializing in hurdles and jumps.
SPRINTS AND THROWS COACH - MALIK ALI A former sprinter, Malik also boxed while at Morehouse and Harvard. He is USATF level 1 Coach in sprints and throws and Branson High School Head Track & Field Coach.
POLE VAULT COACH - WARREN LANIER Current Head Coach at Terra Linda High School primarily responsible for the sprints, relays, and pole vault. A former collegiate vaulter for UC San Diego, Warren began his coaching career at La Jolla and Torrey Pines High Schools in San Diego, as a pole vault coach. Warren was also co-founder and director of the Coast Athletics Summer Vault Training Camps in 2001 and 2002; multi-week camps that brought together high school vaulters and some of the top high school and college coaches and athletes in San Diego. Warren has a USATF Level 1 certification, a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance certification, and is a certified personal trainer.
SCHEDULE OF PRACTICES: at College of Marin's All Weather Track at the Kentfield campus, 835 College Ave., Kentfield, CA Summer - Weekdays from 4pm to 6pm from June 1st until the 3rd week of August. Winter - Weekdays from 4pm to 6pm from first week of September until the 2nd week of December.
EVENTS OF PRACTICES: Sprints, hurdles, long jump and high jump. And especially warm ups and warm downs.
AGES: Boys and Girls in Eighth Grade through College.
